Grand Marshal and Theme Nominations

By Individuals or Marching Groups

Grand Marshal Nominations - We are now accepting nominations for the 2019 Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade Grand Marshal and suggestions for the theme for the 2019 parade. The Grand Marshal will be honored at many events leading up to the parade and shall lead the Parade on parade day. The Grand Marshal will be someone who exemplifies good citizenship, who brings credit to the Irish tradition and embodies the spirit and purpose of the SPDOA organization. Nominations should include biographical information about the nominee, support as to why the nominee should be considered for the role of Grand Marshal, as well as appropriate contact information.

The Grand Marshal Nomination process will follow the same format this year.   Last year we received some nominations for people with only their name with no background information.   It is impossible to evaluate all the good candidates without sufficient biographical information.   Nominations with just a name or little background info will not be considered.

We are also accepting suggestions for themes for the 2019 parade. The theme should be focused on St. Patrick and must be succinct enough to fit on floats, banners, and posters.

In order to be considered, you will have to submit the entry through emails or regular mail.  Our nominating committee will then submit the information to our board for review.

The nomination must have information about the person submitting the nomination including name, address, phone and email address.   We need a background biography or resume sheet on the qualifications of why the person should be Grand Marshal. Nominations will be accepted from the general public starting October 16 and will end at 5:00 PM October 30.

Nominations for Grand Marshal and/or theme suggestions can be sent via email or postal mail starting today, October 16 through October 30, 2018 at 5pm. Both can be sent to: info@phillyparade.com or St. Patrick’s Day Observance Association, PO Box 36629, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

Thank you everyone for your support!

Theme Nominations - Remember, it has to fit on a banner, and groups try to plan their groups, floats, and dance routines relating to the Theme.  In order to be considered, you will have to submit the entry through emails or regular mail.  Our nominating committee will then submit the information to our board for review.   Nominations will be accepted from the general public also starting October 16 and end at 5:00 PM October 30.

Please send both the Theme and/or Grand Marshal Nomination to info@phillyparade.com or

St. Patrick’s Day Observance Association, PO Box 36629, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

Both the Grand Marshal and Theme will be voted on at our November Board meeting.

Thank you.
